Best way to release a scripted after effects extension

I am currently thinking about how to move forward with the After Effects integration of a product I develop.

The new CC 2014 release and the html5 panels have made my options broader, and I think it's likely that I will create such an html5 panel.

What I'm still in the dark about is the deployment and install experience for the user.

I've superficially read about things like the Adobe Store, Adobe Exchange and the Extension Manager, but it appears that After Effects isn't among the supported applications.

I want to make sure that I haven't missed anything and that I can only do one of two things:

  1. Ask the user to manually copy files from the download directory to the respective locations.
  2. Ask the user to run an installer that I have to deploy.

Or is there something else that is more integrated?
